I was born in Murphysboro, IL, a small town in Southern Illinois about 90 miles south of St. Louis, MO and 8 miles from the Mississippi River.

Went to high school and joined the U. S. Navy. Spent 23 years traveling around the world. Served on several aircraft carriers, in various squadrons, became a Flight Engineer in 1965, did a tour in Vietnam in 1966, did some Admiral staff duty and retired from the USN in December 1978 and came to Northern Virginia, the Woodbridge area ,about 25 miles south of Washington D.C., doing consultant work supporting the Department of Defense.

I am Currently supporting the Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security.

I have always been interested in sports, photography, amateur radio (W4MGM), hunting, fishing, camping, and computers.

Took some photography courses at Northern Virginia College in the early 80s with a great professor who taught me a lot (forgot a lot also! (Grin). I kind of got out of photography for awhile except being the duty picture taker at holiday time, party, birthdays, etc.

Starting to get back into photography just got a new digital SLR, EOS 20D. Two new lens, a EF 24-70mm F2.8L USM and a EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM. I also have a Canon Rebel, Canon F1 and AE1 with various lens and too many accessories (Grin).

I like shooting candid shots of people, doing landscape, some macro work, and wild life. I have always liked black and white photography over color.

I’m located in a very good area to shoot just about any type of photography with all the available resources in this area, battlefield, rivers, forests, monuments, mountains, and people of just about all denominations (Grin).

Have a Good Day,

Jim
