Photography is a journey into the light. I find it a challenge to capture natural life, vibrant and dynamic, in a still medium, and help it to come alive in the viewer’s eye as a photographic image.

My photography includes a wide variety of subjects from travel, nature, editorial /photojournalism and conceptual images.

I have travelled from Antarctica to the Arctic, experiencing the Polar Regions and understanding their importance in maintaining the balance of nature. My photography in Costa Rica has developed my understanding of the importance of tropical rain forests in maintaining our planet’s carbon dioxide balance. Trips to the Canadian Rockies have helped me to appreciate the vast powers of nature involved in mountain building. My travels to the Southwest have allowed me to appreciate the abundant types of rock formations with their beautiful designs and patterns.

The Seattle area offers many photographic opportunities, from Mt Rainier to the urban cityscape of Seattle with its beautiful architecture and attractive open spaces. I have enjoyed photographing maritime opportunities in the Puget Sound area, bird life in estuaries such as Nisqually near Olympia, and the abundant snow geese and trumpeter swan populations in the Skagit Valley north of Seattle.

I have mentored students in the Mountaineers Basic Photography Outdoor program, sharing my experiences with others in the field.

My prints have been on display in a variety of public venues including the Washington Trade and Convention Center and the Seattle Museum of Flight. I have been published in NANPAs Expressions Magazine. I currently have stock photography at Alamy, Getty Images, Demotix, iStockphoto and Veer Marketplace. My stock images have sold world-wide. As well, I have images online at Flickr, SmugMug and Photoshelter.

I invite you to share my journey and explore the creative possibilities that photography offers.
