Hi, I'm a mom with two grown kids, I have always taken pictures, and have gone through many cameras. For Christmas in 2010 my husband gave me a beautiful Canon Rebel T2i. Starting that night, all my photos are taken by this lovely DSLR camera.

Before that date on my photostream, there are hundreds of photos taken with my beloved old point and shoot, which which I recorded 8 years of life.

I mostly take shots of flowers I grew myself or wildflowers, butterflies, scenery. Flickr has influenced me to try other subjects, though!

(Update 2018 I have become interested in taking landscape type photos at a very beautiful, elegant cemetery here in Cincinnati Ohio. So there will be a lot of photos from there. My husband and I go there together with our cameras.)

(Update 2023 I have become interested in taking photos with good light or good composition, and running them through the Deep Dream Generator site. It is my current fun thing to do.)

I am also somewhat of an artist and paint scenery for community theater, or make props. Pics of those are on my photostream because in theatre, your work gets thrown out or painted over during the next show... and I need a portfolio to show people who might want me to paint for them. Sorry for all those stage scenery pictures!

I have really learned to enjoy editing my photos. Flickr has taught me the advantages of improving a shot. I used to rather stubbornly stick to the original lighting, contrast, and color, but I am have become a total fan of processing.

Lately I have even tried textures, or combining photos... wow! (Edit: as of 2013 I have discovered Topaz Simplify and Topaz Adjust and Topaz Clean. These programs have really influenced my work. You will see many more heavily edited photos from me now.)

I'm getting old enough to be a lot slower getting up off the ground after a flower shot!

I live in the house I grew up in. That's why it figures in many of my earlier pictures.... those shots are for my brothers and sisters to see.

If I make you my contact, I will comment on many of the photos you upload. However, only the last five uploaded photos appear in my contact stream... so if you upload like 20 photos in one day, I will only be looking at the last five of them! Don't expect me to comment on lots of photos each day. (Update 2024: Now that ALL your uploaded photos for the day appear in Flickrs new way of showing friends' photos.... if you upload tons of photos, I will look at most of them, but only comment on a few.)

Thanks to all my Flickr friends and my thanks to all of you who have made me a contact and who comment on my photos! If you comment on my photos on a regular basis, I will probably end up making you a contact in return, and comment on yours, too!

If I have made you my contact and comment on your photos all the time, but you do not return the favor, and comment on mine, I will, eventually, remove you as my contact.

I am giving you all my daughter's email address here, so that if I disappear off Flickr for an alarming amount of time, you can email her to find out what happened, if you wish. I lost one friend a year ago... he disappeared off Flickr and I never did find out why. I don't want to put my dear Flickr friends through that. So, my daughter's email is: inannaodin@gmail.com. Her name is Mattie Smith... whoops, now it is Mrs. Martha (or Matt) Cliffe. She got married!)

The one thing I wish for in my life is a chance to travel a bit more.

These words I write here are long overdue as Mary has been a flickr friend for a few years now, so I am sorry it has taken me this long! Mary sees things in nature that a lot of us would miss, her eye for the detail in a leaf or the light on a flower is amazing. I love the pictures she shares of the flowers in her garden, some of them in such detail that I feel like I am there taking them in with my own eyes. Mary is not afraid to experiment either with macro work or with her processing both of which I am in awe of. I love it also when Mary takes us on her walks with her cats in the beautiful part of the world where she lives, it is wonderful to share these moments. On top of being a fantastic photographer, Mary always has a kind and generous word and I am grateful to have such a lovely flickr friend. Thank you Mary.

A kind-hearted, witty, provocative friend, Mary is the kind of fellow artist who truly makes flickr worthwhile. I am fortunate to be able to share a small part of her world!

Mary - first of all, she is a great person with a great heart. She became a good friend to me, she is always reliable. Mary - second, her pictures amaze me. Many are special, displaying a special mood, a hidden detail, photographic art or just something that would be overlooked by everybody else. Since I have known her, her photographic and processing skill has improved from day to day and amazes me. Mary - third, her comment is always a pleasure to read. She writes it only after she has examined a picture thoroughly . She never just gives a "Great" but notices every detail of the composition and always finds something that is beautiful in her eyes. So I want to thank her for all this.
