There are five parts to the National Museums of World Culture - four museums and an administrative sector. The four museums are the Museum of Ethnography, the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities and the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, all located in Stockholm, along with the Museum of World Culture in Göteborg. The management and administrative offices are located in Göteborg as well.

Together we are stewards of much of the international cultural heritage in Sweden. We also all share the same assignment from the government and the Swedish Parliament. Our overall operational concept is:

The National Museums of World Culture -

four museums that open windows to a changing world by:

· Managing, magnifying scientifically and mediating cultural heritages with respect and responsibility through dialogue with the surrounding world.

· Serving as fora for cultural encounter and participation in democratic interchange.

· Presenting programming that is relevant and credible for varying user groups and that makes choices, stimulates involvement and inspires thinking.

We do not presume to provide a full picture of the world, rather hoping that through the various points of view represented by the four museums be able to inspire people to move farther in their own thoughts and actions.

You can find more information about our task under the tab "Assignment and responsibility". The operational concept of each separate museum is included in the museum presentations.
