A creative spirit always looking for new expressions through all forms of art. Educated as an architect with a special interest in designing interior spaces that convey a strong emotional and spiritual presence. In addition, I am a self taught painter that has explored abstract color composition trying to capture the experience of wordless emotion. I aspired through painting to make the quality and sensation of color itself something quite tactile and thus a revelation of in itself. Later I tried to evoke the same thoughts by creating abstract sculptural forms out of found steel.
Today I am looking to photography, both digital and film as a tool for further exploring the concepts of wordless emotion and spiritual presence in art. I am shooting various cameras during this adventure, on the digital side: the Canon SD 550, and the Olympus E-520, to the lo-tech VIstaquest VQ350. On the film side I am concentrating on the casualness and loose qualities of toy cameras including the Holga and the DIana+, to contrast with the tight control of the digital world (and they are really fun as well).
As a design teacher, I am always interested in conveying ideas with others. I hope this forum of photography will open up opportunities for me to share these expressions with other creative individuals who see the world a little bit differently. Always remembering that no one discovered anything new by drawing inside the lines!!!
