A MESSAGE FROM CHARLES ABBOTT DAUGHTER KIM- "my father had a stroke March 2012 and is unable to use his laptop therefore he is sorry he cannot reply to any comments or emails"

Retired 79 yr old ex Storeman, Airman, Postman, Policeman, Bus Driver and Part-Time Traffic Enumerator, even been a Poll Clerk.

Interested in most forms of transport, particularly railway orientated, including model railways.

Also fairly active amateur snapper prepared to take anything which could be interesting either pictorially or for it's content.

Bought my first real camera, a second hand Praktica SLR Super TL2 about 1980, slowly worked up to an EOS. Got into digital about four years ago, still using a pocket size Nikon Coolpix L5, and Panasonic FZ20, recently gone DSLR with the Nikon D80. I have now added a Tamron AF70-300mm lens to my kit. Don't rate myself as arty but hopefully have got beyond the pole over the subjects head or branch growing out of their ear. I adjust the framing of some photos in the camera and use the editing controls in Picnik, otherwise you see what the lens saw.

I enjoy looking at others photos but get more pleasure when they are titled and some clue given to location. A building or scene with a number over the top doesn't say anything.

Have found looking at others profile's quite enlightening, the face behind the lens so to speak. Gives the pictures a little extra meaning.
