I know that our bodies move not by a will of their own, matter has no will. I know that when I close my eyes, that voice in the blackness is not a compound of molecules, nor a ligament nor a bundle of neurons, because I am not my body - if you chop off part of me, it has no consciousness. I cannot exist in isolation with any of the organs of my body, even my brain... the body is a house, is a mechanism that expresses what I, the voice that speaks when I am silent, and that has not ceased to think and feel since my formation in my mother's womb, unlike a computer you can shut off and turn back on... that voice, my essence is entirely different from my body. I believe that I am more than my body, and I believe that life is more than the earth's dirt and molecules.
