Chris Luhar-Trice is an Assistant Professor of Photography at the University of North Florida. He was born in Anaheim, California but grew up in the south, having moved to Alabama in 1977. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999 and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001. Chris again lived in the south between 2003 and 2009, teaching in Alabama and Mississippi. His recent photographic work is a personal reinterpretation of southern history, landscape and culture. His photographs are held in various public and private collections, including those of The Photomedia Center in Erie, PA and Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Photography. He exhibits his work at the national level, including recent shows in Las Vegas, NV, San Francisco, CA, and New York City. When not behind the camera, he enjoys the music of the Carter Family and vintage science fiction.
