paisajes emergentes is:
Paisajes Emergentes operates from Medellín, Colombia and was founded in 2008 by the Colombian architects Luis Callejas, Edgar Mazo and Sebastián Mejia.
The practice establishes a constant and reciprocal dialogue between landscape, art, architecture and infrastructure through environmental operations.
In the three years since the practice started they have won the two of the most important competitions in Latin America for public infrastructure: The aquatic centre for the South American games 2010 and the complete renovation of the main stadium in Bogota, Colombia.
In December 2010 Paisajes Emergentes was selected as one of the world’s best young practices by the Iakov Chernikhov foundation in Moscow, after the evaluation of 133 nominees from 25 countries.
Luis Callejas (1981), Architect from Universidad Nacional de Colombia and visiting teacher at Harvard GSD 2011-2012.
Before starting Paisajes Emergentes, Luis collaborated in the complete renovation of the Botanical garden in Medellín, Colombia and the studios of artists Luis F Pelaez and Hugo Zapata. Parallel to the practice Luis leads a studio at the Bolivariana University in Medellin on resilient spatial and landscape practices for flood-prone areas.
Edgar Mazo, (Medellín 1976) Architect from Universidad Nacional de Colombia and teacher at the Bolivariana University in Medellín. Master studies in modern Architecture at the National University, Bog, Colombia.
Sebastian Mejia, (Medellín 1982) Architect from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Teacher at the Bolivariana University in Medellín. Invited teacher at Harvard GSD.
They have been guest lecturers at the RAIA National Conference in Melbourne, Australia 2011, Harvard GSD, USA 2009.
