My start in photography came in my early teens when I was given an Ilford Envoy box camera. This progressed some years later to a Ricohmatic 35 bought at Aden as a Deck Cadet in the Merchant Navy and then to a Praktika Nova, a Minolta Autocord TLR and finally a Leica IIIg as a young man training to be an accountant. I was keen enough to do my own developing and printing in a pantry converted to a darkroom and even did the occasional wedding for friends, I was very inexpensive! These days my photography tends to follow my interest in landscapes and historical buildings, in the course of which I have acquired a small accumulation of cameras, partly from a reluctance to trade-in older models but also from an in-grained collecting habit. I still find the process of creating pictures in this way a delightful and interesting challenge and will continue to do so into my dotage!
