Paul C. Swift | Photographer & Cinematographer

With a background as a film cinematography and as a lighting cameraman, I bring a cinematic discipline to both deep-sky astrophotography and monochrome landscape work. Whether tracking photons for over 100 hours from my observatory or capturing a fleeting earthbound shadow, my focus remains entirely on structure, contrast, and form. In my astrophotography, I use high-precision optics to map the immense, intricate dust lanes and emission networks of the cosmos. Down on the ground, I strip away color to treat light and darkness as a chisel—using the camera lens to carve deep textures and structural geometry out of rustic architecture, human presence, and subterranean spaces.
