Below a response I recently gave someone who asked about my situation, I felt I articulated (the feelings) better than usual, so share it here.

"Oh gosh, really a long but not uncommon story, but in a nutshell...I started crossdressing as early as 10yrs (maybe earlier, but that's as far back as I can pinpoint in my memory), but not until older adult did I really get to what you see today. Money and time gave me a chance to really play dress up, but I soon found my thoughts taking me past just crossdressing. That really began about 18 yrs ago now. It was not instantaneous, but a progression of thought over these last yrs. I don't explore the labels too much, but today, sometimes refer to myself as trans."
