My interest in photography began when I was around nine years old after watching my father take pictures with an old German folding camera. I took my first photography class in the seventh grade and have been an avid and mostly self-taught photography enthusiast ever since.

Around 1980 I read a book titled "The New Color Photography", and a new style that emerged in the 1970’s, think Eggleston and Shore. The pictures in the book looked rather mundane, but they influenced my style for many years. I now take pictures of anything that attracts my attention. I have also annoyed many cats over the years by following them around with a camera.

Modern software allows today’s photographers to do things that were impossible forty years ago and has allowed me to dig back through my archives and give old pictures a new life, a better one. I really enjoy that. Unfortunately, most of my negatives and Polaroids, prior to 1980, are poor candidates for scanning.
