My interest in photography began when I was around nine years old after watching my father take pictures with an old German folding camera. I took my first photography class in the seventh grade and have been an avid and mostly self-taught photography enthusiast ever since.

Around 1980 I read a book about color photography and a new style that emerged in the 1970’s, think Eggleston and Shore. The pictures in the book looked rather mundane, but they influenced my style for many years. I eventually moved away from that look and just took pictures of anything that attracted my attention. I have also annoyed many cats over the years by following them around with a camera.

Modern software allows today’s photographers to do things that were impossible forty years ago and has allowed me to dig back through my archives and give old pictures a new life, a better one. I really enjoy that.

Agfa? folding camera - the family camera, eventually developed numerous light leaks

Plastic toy camera - broken

Kodak Instamatic - broken

Two or three Polaroids - broken, (corroded electronics and broken feed mechanisms)

Argus "brick" - rangefinder seized up

Canon AE-1 - retired after 25 years

Canon A-1 - retired after 27 years

Olympus C2040Z - given away

Olympus C5050Z - broken (battery door came apart)

Sony DSC-H50 - retired

Panasonic DC-G2 - retired

Panasonic DC-G9 - in use

Nikon Z7 II - in use

Most of my negatives and Polaroids, prior to 1980, are either in poor condition or can't be found.
