This block was labeled "Write a little about yourself." How little?
Born Richmond, VA, 1948; uh, that's last centurry. I've been a scientist and software engineer for an unknown large number of decades. FWIW, PhD Seismology MIT 1983, BS Physics VaTech 1971. Have been a musician most of my life because my mom's family were all musicians, mostly classical. My sweetie/wife (since 1977) and I started a bluegrass band (www.SouthernRail.com) in 1978; I'm the guitarist and primary lead singer.
My dad was an amateur photographer. That's why I got interested. I started shooting film about 1970 with a Zenit B, then a Nikkormat FTn, both of which I carried everywhere. Went to digital with a Sony Cybershot, then a Nikon Coolpix, then cell phones. In autumn 2025 I bought a Z5-II w/FTZ to use my old lenses, then a rig for scanning my 1000+ slides. Now I have a collection of lenses. I recently revived the Nikkormat (it still works) and was gifted a Nikon F w/Photomic vewfinder (I got it working) and an F2 (needs light seals). The film work will be an interesting experiment. The Z5-II with vintage lenses is great. Been enjoying participating in FredMiranda.com.
Is that little enough?
