I enjoy photographing varied subject matter, including landscapes, wildlife and transport. This site is my outlet for my railway photography, which I have been covering on and off since I was 12 years old. I have taken about 8000 railway photographs over the last 40 years. I aim to share my historical stuff after I have processed my images to an acceptable level of quality.

In terms of subject matter, I enjoy photographing what is representative of the everyday scene. I have a very busy working life, so opportunities to seek out specific workings for me are very limited. I am fortunate to live just a few miles from Toton, so there are lots of opportunities for interesting images in this area.

What makes a good railway photograph is a very subjective topic. I actually enjoy the challenge of taking photographs in all weather conditions. I especially love difficult conditions, such as fog, torrential rain, snow and low light. I will still go out and photograph on dull days because I believe that digital camera sensors and current processing software can still achieve attractive and vibrant images under those circumstances. I particularly enjoy backlighting conditions, where the texture and form of the subject matter is brought to life.
