Originally born on the outskirts of Madrid, Spain, I quickly ventured beyond my hometown to explore new horizons. To date, I’ve lived in six countries and visited over sixty! I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have witnessed so much of this beautiful world. Currently, I reside on magical Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, where I work at Salt Spring Seeds, an heirloom and heritage seed company. I am deeply passionate about this.

Over the past twenty years, I’ve explored many photographic styles, from landscapes to weddings, social to portrait photography. Ultimately, I found my most sincere inspiration in nature. I aim to use my camera as a “tool for beauty and good.”

On our farm, we grow hundreds of heirloom and heritage varieties — vegetables, flowers, medicinal plants, and more. Immersed in this vibrant diversity, I spend countless hours in an environment rich with beauty to be captured in every direction.

I strongly feel that what sets my photography apart is the intimate relationship with the subjects I capture: I am not only the photographer, but also the person who grows the plants from seed to seed, year after year. The plants are my life, and I am fortunate enough to be able to crystallize their beauty with my camera.

My current focus is fine-art macro photography using a technique called “Focus Stacking”: I take between fifty and a hundred photos and blend them into a single image of exceptional detail. Each photograph is thus a labour-intensive, carefully crafted piece that requires planning, time, skill and love. And that’s not even counting the months spent growing the plants themselves!

Despite the great time and effort it all takes, my heart glows every time I feel I have succeeded at capturing the plant’s beauty for the world to witness.
