The Institute for Rural Development (IRD) is a grassroots, non-governmental organization based in Nuwakot, Nepal, dedicated to empowering rural communities through education, youth leadership, and sustainable development initiatives. IRD works at the intersection of community engagement, cross-cultural collaboration, and social impact, with a special focus on creating opportunities for young people in underserved regions.

What We Do

Youth Empowerment: IRD leads programs that foster leadership, teamwork, and healthy living among rural youth, including the creation of safe and inclusive spaces for sports and recreation.

Education & Exchange: The organization partners with international groups to facilitate academic, cultural, and development exchanges, supporting both local and global learning.

Recent Highlights

Completion of a multi-purpose sports facility in Panchakanya Rural Municipality, Nuwakot, in partnership with Peak Potential, a student-led initiative from Hong Kong.

Ongoing support for youth clubs that organize sports tournaments and community activities, ensuring project legacies endure for years to come.

Active collaboration with organizations such as Reinstalling Hope and the Oxford Diplomatic Society to promote education, diplomacy, and sustainable tourism in Nepal.
