I heard that photos are "time stable". Photos can withstand the constant and chaotic future and thus, they (photos) are not erased by the transformation of the present into the past.

What do you think?

Why do we take photos?

Is it to travel into the past?

Are we attempting to act like the Creator of All and exact control by capturing capsules of the present that can travel with us through time?

Or are we trying to save a beautiful thought or viewpoint? So that we may try and hold on forever?

Or are we all simply sharing how we see our world with others? Maybe photos are a unique method of communication? ... maybe for those who seek an alternative to speech?

Maybe not.

Maybe photos are products of common magic.

Or well timed illusions.

Or maybe photos are just nothing at all?

Are photos elaborate figments of our own imaginations? Since, once captured, the moment no longer exists... only to be remembered again as we deep dive through our memory cards? then forgotten again...

The encapsulation of a once-present moment that has now transformed into the past... is there a true use for these moments to be carried? Is there any logic within a photographic act?

Did anything even really happen? Is the photo proof? proof of our own perspectives; proof of our attitudes? proof of nothing at all? is there even anything at all to prove?

Maybe it's just... Art.

Or are we just flickering away in the present moments, only to shove our images in storage... like forgotten leftover plates, shoved into our microwaves of subconscious thought. All but forgetting about said plate of imagery and imagination until one day, in our future, where we re-open the forgotten microwave oven of our subconscious reality to discover *gasp!* maggots have grown.

What then?

Will you look upon "the forgotten" in disgust? Will you label your maggot infested creation a mistake? Will you toss it in the trash because you cannot bear the sight? Will your artistic attitude be altered at the sight of the un-desired outcome of your very own design? No longer appearing as majestic as you once momentarily thought?

Or will you show understanding to oneself? Will you patiently disinfect your mindful microwave until you are satisfied enough to walk away, inspired to make something new? (This time, hopefully, maggot free.)

Taking with you an unexpected lesson and much needed introspection. This time you will remember to maintain your creativity faithfully rather than maintain the avoidance of such.

Patterns of disengagement grow nothing but maggots within your otherwise inspired thoughts.

But, alas, I must digress.

Even if you don't know why you gravitate towards photography... at least you know why it's important to clean your camera lens... and perhaps tomorrow you'll discover why you enjoy photography.

Or... maybe you will literally find that your literal microwave has literal maggots because you forgot about your literal leftovers literally two weeks back.

Will you take a picture of that?
