My photographic journey began when I joined the military as a young adult, purchasing a camera in Germany to record daily life and travel. Fortune favoured me with two tours in the Comox Valley where I have now lived over 30 years. Having lived on a lighthouse in Newfoundland as a child my thirst for reading about the world changed to recording the places and events in my life to taking photos. Raising a family, grandchildren, and later travelling as much of the world as possible. My style is photorealistic, applied to landscape, family, friends and lately birds and wildlife. As camera optics and technology advances I find my favourite photos still include older photos, taken on now discarded gear, perhaps a reminder that it's the creative process and not the pixels that will endure.

The digital age has provided an explosion of opportunities to self educate and experience the work of other photographers. My inspirations are the thousands of posters and educators who freely teach others in the pursuit of art in this amazing world we live in. Shout outs to Mark Denny, Matt Shannon, Simon d'Entremont, who are my go to references in the quest for the photo of my life.
