DICTO – Artist Biography

DICTO is the working identity of the artist, whose sculptural practice explores geometry, structural systems, and binary logic through constructions made from recycled PET bottle components. Before developing the geometric systems, DICTO primarily produced figurative sculpture, with a focus on aesthetic form, portraiture, and modeled representation.

Originally trained as a stonemason, DICTO’s engagement with geometry emerged through the practical traditions of construction, where geometric principles historically guided architectural craft. During this period he encountered the structural thinking of Buckminster Fuller, whose investigations into modular geometry and systemic construction resonated with his own experiments.

In the early 2020s DICTO began constructing geometric frameworks from PET bottles using specially designed connector nodes. Through experimentation he discovered that these systems corresponded to the classical set of Platonic solids described by Euclid. This work developed into a series of modular constructions including Petrapods, DeltaZips, and DICTOspheres, and led to multiple design patents for polyhedral connector systems.

Through this process the work gradually shifted from geometric exploration toward structural logic. This evolution culminated in B1NR, a reductive sculptural system in which form is generated through binary relationships using two elements—PET bottle rings and nylon ties—representing two states.

Across these phases the practice moves from figurative modeling toward systems-based sculpture, tracing a path from craft and geometry to a minimal structural language grounded in binary logic.
