I create gardens for a living here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and have a life long passion for plants, gardening, design and also travel to natural areas of the world. I have a particular fascination for certain parts of the world, and continue to go back multiple times to those areas that have captured my heart. Languages and other cultures are also an interest, although I only speak english, portuguese and spanish; the commonalities between them are the hook that improves my fluency.

Major interests in exploring the plant communities of South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and high elevation tropical cloud forests around the world. I like getting to know these habitats and bringing some of that knowledge back to what I do when creating gardens here in California. Bromeliads, succulents and subtropicals, along with members of the Fynbos of South Africa and Mediterranean Climate zone plants around the world are key interests.

I love to travel, but haven't done enough of it, mostly associated with working stints as a landscape architect while temporarily based in either Brazil, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Saudi Arabia.

Mostly a plant geek here at home, with friends who are mostly owners of plant nurseries or in thelandscape design business, but also share interests with friends in jazz, brazilian and South African music, architecture and design by greats such as Burle Marx, Luis Barragan, Maybeck, Russell Page, amongst others.

I am only slowly getting into sharing photos and learning how to post them on the web, still pretty much a neophyte at this, but I do take a lot of photos, although the vast majority are 35mm slides yet to be converted to digital.

I also enjoy writing about horticulture and landscape design focusing on the plants and how I like to use them. I enjoy sharing what I know and also seeing what other talented people are doing around the world.
