I'm finally here on Flickr ... until just recently, I had a website, "ShowMeNaturePhotography.com". Due to recurring webhosting issues, I decided it was time to stop spinning my wheels to keep it going, and find another way to share my nature photography ... so here I am! I have a lot of images to add and will be quite busy collecting them and uploading to my Flickr account, so check back often.

I am a life-long resident of Missouri. My life was mostly centered around the Kansas City area, but I moved to the Missouri Ozarks in 2019. In April 2025, I moved back to the Kansas City area, so I'm eagerly revisiting some of my old photography stomping grounds, as well as looking for new ones!

I graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, with a B.S. in Biology. After working for a major pharmaceutical company for 31 years, I retired and pursued a business in nature photography (Show-Me Nature Photography). I have always been an outside person, starting at a very young age when my parents took me and my brother to wonderful natural places to camp ... Yellowstone NP, Colorado Rockies (many different locations), Grand Teton NP, etc. I am also an Eagle Boy Scout, with several "palms" and the "God & Country" award. I am also a Missouri Master Gardener, have been a member of the Great Plains Nature Photographers, am a current member of NANPA (North American Nature Photographers Assoc.), and am a past member of the Astronomical Society of Kansas City (ASKC).

I taught various photography classes at the Cass Career Center (Harrisonville, MO) until moving to the lake in 2019. In the springs and summers, I enjoyed conducting half-day wildflower photography workshops in rural areas.

Photography started for me when I was in high school and became a hobby, then progressed as a profession, in the 1990's. I photograph about anything nature-related. My favorite subjects are wildlife, wildflowers, scenics, but recently have really enjoying night photography (meteors, astrophotography, Solar/Lunar eclipses, etc.). Through my images, I strive to convey the complex daily lives of the subjects I photograph. Whenever I photograph, it is always my intent to capture the actions and behaviors of my subjects. My objective is to educate others about the wildlife that surrounds us, including their behaviors, feeding habits, raising of young, and how they coexist in our complex world today. My travels include multiple trips to Alaska, a couple of trips to Baja Mexico, many U.S. National Parks,

Since 2007, I have become very active in photographing local wildlife from a kayak (which I’ve nicknamed “Rubber Duckie”). The kayak allows me to get closer to wildlife, and allows me to enter the world of aquatic mammals and birds at their level, seeing things from their perspective. I have worked with several beaver families, monitoring and photograph them on a regular basis. And during the spring and winter bird migrations, I often get unusually close to various waterfowl. Seeing things from the kayak level is a whole new adventure!

I also love photographing nature through a macro lens ... seeing and capturing the very small, detailed structures and lives of nature's creations.
