My previous website was ecopic.nl. More new content will appear here. I am an ex-biology and physics teacher in Nijmegen-NL. I studied ecology of the tropical high mountains - in Utrecht and Amsterdam, worked on ecological research in the Colombian Andes. was cofounder of an ecological travel agency: Ecotravel Natuurreizen, the first ecotourism agency in the Netherlands. I organized and guided many naturetours, obtained quite a lot of knowledge of flora, fauna and geography of many Latin-American countries. In 1994 I lived in Brazil, working in ecotourism. And started a small hotel on Ilha Grande, an island near Rio de Janeiro. The hotel won a prize as one of the top five ecological hotels in Brazil.

In 1997 moved to Bolivia, and worked for a travel agency: Transamazonas. I also wrote articles for the Bolivian Times and occasionally advised Bolivian government on ecotourism development. Back in NL I worked as IT-network manager for 6 years. Then I started as a high school teacher in biology and physics. I stopped teaching in 2025. Now I travel a lot and spend a lot of time on my new (renewed old) hobby astronomy.
