"Winged and Other Things"

A camera somehow grants permission to revisit the childlike desire to sit in the dirt and grass, or wade through a swamp, and watch universes of bugs and birds and other creatures unfold before you. Entering an animal's world with stillness is kind of like throwing a rock in the river- everyone is startled for a moment, but then they forget about you and live their lives around you.

My photos don't begin to capture the depth of the natural world around me, but they keep me happy while I crouch in the mud!
