Hi,

I am Lindsay, retired now and enjoying life by playing Golf and taking photos from my travels.

In the course of my business, I once met an elderly lady who lived by herself. She was not very mobile and lived in very poor conditions, the worst of which (my first impression) was due to a hoarding issue. Every room in her house was filled from floor to ceiling with newspapers and there was barely enough room to move about the house. She seemed like a smart woman when I talked to her but I was confused about the hoarding of old newspapers, so I asked her about it. Her reply made me rethink how I viewed her situation and started questioning my own. She explained that they were not newspapers...they were, in fact, her life and she had a newspaper from every day she had lived. I found that hard to believe so I asked her if she knew where her 21st Birthday newspaper was. She told me exactly where it was and I retrieved it, whereupon she read the headline and replied...yes, I remember that day now. There was a story about the JFK inauguration and another about a new sound created by a group of 4 young fellows in Britain who called themselves The Beatles. Wow...I was stunned. She said she was quite upset though because her washing machine had burst a pipe last year and destroyed 3 months of her life that she was afraid she would never get back.

I suppose I take photos for the same reason. I guess I am a hoarder too. I, too, lost a portion of my life when a hard drive decided it would die for no reason. At least now I know to back up.

Isn't life interesting.
