I’m self-taught musician (my main instrument is electric guitar, but also - sitar, guqin, shakuhachi, ukulele, piano and some more. Sometimes I write poems. Wanted to be a painter and this part of me translated into photography. I like to travel, hitchhiking and mountains but recently mostly sitting at home and receiving a lots of travelers here.

What inspired you to become a photographer?

Something that I could discover, express and find (sometimes for myself as well) with the means of the photo-art. Something in the very core of the images. And of course a lot of other things: mighty language for communication, communication and socialising itself, discovering people, the way to see them as I couldn’t without photography. The very thing and process of creation, making art. That’s a mystic and at the same time very vital thing for me - to create. That’s life and making something alive. Also it’s extremely sexual thing, in some strange way in relationship with making love. But socially approved for a married man as I am. Even for my wife, who helps me, inspiring me in my art and stands by me immensely. Finally - that I’m good at it:)

Do you feel photography enhances your life? If so, how?

Of course it does. As every art and act of art. And also as the way of hanging out.

What purpose does photography serve for you?

To have a better life?

Do you do photography for hire or as an art form?

It’s more an art for me, though I wouldn’t refuse work for money. On the contrary.

What do you do for work and how does photography fit into that?

I work with words as freelancer and using photography as the very important part of the texts. Sometimes I’m using my photos or photos of my friends. And I’m write about photography on the constant basis.

How strong of a connection do you have with your subject matter and can you describe that connection?

Sometimes very strong. Sometimes it’s longtime friendship, sometimes it’s love)

How do you see the relationship with your camera? Is it a friend, tool, or whatever?

Do you have a preference for Black & White or Color? Please explain why.

Usually when I’m working with my raw material, I try both and than choose the only variant which I feel that that’s it. But pretty often it turns out to be BW, sometimes for my big surprise.

How do you feel about being photographed?
