My family is everything to me. When my wife and I found out we were expecting a child I decided it was time to get rid of my 2001 Chevy Tracker. At the time we owned 2 Chevy Trackers (01 and an 02 ZR2). My 2001 was going to need all sorts of work done to it just to pass inspection so I wanted to get a new vehicle. I decided I wanted a minivan, which my wife hated the idea of owning. I hunted around and ended up getting my 2003 Dodge Caravan Sport for a great price. I had decided I wanted to do some work to her and get her looking pretty. Some of that work was a result of a couple accidents which happened while carrying stuff around for work and iother work was because I wanted to upgrade things. My wife never was excited about the minivan but after we found out we were having twins she agreed it was a good purchase. I changed little things on the van and work on it since 2010. My parents gave me a 2001 Chevy S10 to drive to work which eventually died (blown motor) then they gave me my mom's 2001 Chevy Tracker LT for work purposes. This really helps save on the van, both miles and wear.
On November 20th of 2015 I hit a deer on the way to work with the Tracker and the insurance company decided to total it. We were thinking about getting Karen another car then I was going to drive her car to work. Later we decided since we use the van so much I would get another van and use my 03 for work. I originally intended to get another 4th generation and moving parts over to the newish van (05-07) so I could just continue the work. Tha didn't work out when I hit another deer on the way to work 2 weeks after I totaled the Tracker. Down to 1 car and a busy weekend I ended up jumping on a decent 2010 Grand Caravan SXT. I will tell you what...LOVE this new van. This was a great purchase and really like all the features of it.
So now we are a 2 van family. It will be easier to keep the newish van nicer because my 03 is going to be a beater I can haul stuff in that instead of my 10 which hauling stuff around is always a problem when it comes to damaging a vehicle.
Now why a van you say. When I was in college I drove a Mazda MPV and loved it. I decided then I wanted a minivan at some point in my life. Then when the time came I decided I wanted a Mopar van because I feel they are the best vans on the market. I like to think outside of the box and I don't believe that every car that is redone has to be some sort of Sports Car/SUV/Truck. The car culture is fun and loaded with many sub cultures that there is room for everyone to find some place for yourself in the car world. I have found my spot with my van. I don't have the ability to own another car just for fun, and the van is a perfect functional vehicle for so many reasons. Road trips, kids, family trips and so much more make a mivivan for my family PERFECT. I have decided I wanted to make my van fun. I really don't care what anyone thinks of my van, it just matters what I think. One of my favorite quotes involving my van was when a guys didn't understand why I wanted a van and I should go get a Subaru. I said basically bring your car over load me, the kids and all the stuff we need for a trip an we will talk.
You will see after a couple pictures, I don't just think outside the box...I tear it up. I love cars of all types...but as I said my family is first.
Enjoy your visit...like it and tell your friends
