This is my new Film Journey…so far.
I really only got started again at the beginning of 2024 After leaving a job. I was piddling around on eBay and found a good price on a Pentax MX with a 50mm F1.7 lens.
It had been over 30 years since I held a film camera in my hand.
I bought a roll of TriX and a package to Diafine developer. I pulled out all the Darkroom equipment handed down to me from my father and processed my first roll and I knew this is what I wanted to do.
It’s been about a year now and I’ve had lots of failures, and I have learned from every one of them.
I don’t know whether I’m getting better at all this but it gives me great joy to go through this process.
Rolling film from bulk, putting it in the camera, winding it, composing and framing the picture, figuring out the light, pushing the button rewinding the film, realizing I have a light leak and on and on. New/Old cameras are a joy to learn. Medium format rangefinders, 6x9’s 645’s half frame cameras, and on and on. The simplicity of Diafine the frustration of Cafenol and the dependability of DD-X.
I’m doing something with a camera or some kind of work in the darkroom every day now. I’ve already found great ideas and inspiration here. I will come back here as often as I can to see your work.
My favorite cameras so far:
Pentax KX,
Nikon FE2(the camera I had in younger days),
Fujica ST801 an M42 mount,
Fujica GW69ii a 6x9 rangefinder.
Then, what I call a Medium format, half frame, the Pentax 645.
I have a full line of lenses for all of these camera’s and they are just too numerous to mention.
Here are other cameras you will find that I am using in this stream(so far):
Pentax: Super Program, ME super, MX and Pentax 17 and Pentax Z1p.
Nikon: FA and F3.
Canon: F1n and Canonette QL17.
Minolta: Dynax 501si Super and Maxxum 70
Agfa Folders: Record III(6x9) and Isolette(6x6).
All film, black-and-white, and color have been processed by me.
My home is Little Rock, Arkansas USA
Grateful to be here,
