The Combat Aviation Brigade of the 1st Armored Division is based at Fort Bliss, TX, and is composed of about 2,600 Soldiers. The CAB's mission is to conduct aviation operations to support geographic combatant commanders conducting unified land operations. Its units are comprised of:

* 3rd Heavy Attack Reconnaissance Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment

* 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment

* 3rd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment

* 4th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment

* 127th Aviation Support Battalion
