I have always had a passion for wildlife and the natural world. This lead me into a career in estate management in Cheshire. Now retired, I have a little more time and I have returned to my nature photography.
I am enjoying myself and meeting some lovely like minded people whilst out and about, mostly in the North West of England, taking my photographs - which are purely for my own satisfaction. My competitive side has long since waned.
Many years ago I worked with slide film and entered photographic club competitions which helped me to improve as a photographer. Eventually I was lucky enough to win the annual “L&CPU (Lancashire & Cheshire Photographic Union) Nature Slide” for 1989. With this personal goal achieved, together with family and job demands, along with my other hobbies, and outdated “film” camera equipment, my nature photography diminished. I was content to just get out and enjoy nature. Now though, my “digital” camera can accompany me, and “IF” I can capture a nice image here and there, I am happy, as they will help me to reflect on some of the wonderful moments I have experienced close to nature.
I decided (after encouragement from family and friends) that others may get something from viewing my photographs, so it’s good to be just starting out on Flickr. I find viewing other people’s work enjoyable and inspiring, so I thought I should try and contribute.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, or simply, just to have a look at my photos.
