I wore a lot of hats when I was a journalist. So many hats that "getting the shot" became a low priority for me. This is even though I've had a passion for photography since age 5 and went to college for photojournalism.
I don't work in news anymore. Yet, I still want to express myself in the art form I know best. But a fancy DSLR is expensive, and I can't fit a dark room in my apartment. So what do you do?
You buy a $35 digital camera built for kids that prints on receipt paper. No, I can't change my lens, shutter speed, aperture, or ISO. But did I mention that it looks like a dinosaur?
But to say I'm limited in what I can create with this camera is far from the truth. I've developed an obsession with thermal paper and the printing process. I've spent hours figuring out how to do tricks like multiple exposures and many others, and I'm still discovering new things about the camera and what it can do every day.
I hope to share these photos with you and explain how I got the shot and why I love them so much with a community that enjoys photography just as much as I do.
Thank you.
