BIG thanks to all who fav and comment on what I share here on Flickr. Much appreciated and encouraging.

My name is Kevin, and I started bird photography around 2019. I am wanting to share my work and learn from others here on Flickr. Amazing talent on the pages of this website, and I am learning how to set up to take a better photo and then to better my postprocessing skills (which I am trying to do as little of as possible). While my interest has been on the avian creatures that grace our daily lives, I have been expanding to other flora and fauna. I am also interested in doing more landscapes and buildings, etc. For now, my first love are our feathered friends.

My interest in photography can be traced back to my dad who had a Kodak Starmite and Instamatic from which he loved to make slide pictures to use in his Kodak Carousel Slide projector (possibly a 600), usually set up during family gatherings. I purchased my first 35mm camera (Pentax K1000, which I still have) when my younger brother took up photography. Due to cost and life changes and my Pentax going on the blink, my work at the hobby waned.

In 2014 when my wife and I took a European Trip to Italy, France, and Switzerland I splurged on a Nikon D3200 clicking off some 4,000+ frames during our 10-day tour only to find most of them were utterly awful, but I wanted to get better. Being an avid birder, I decided to couple my hobbies. I practiced with my D3200 to learn more about the digital format. My daughter purchased a used Nikon D300 and she allowed me to practice on hers when she wasn't using it. As I progressed in my knowledge it resulted in my purchase of a used Nikon D500 with an 18-300 Nikkor lens. I have since added a new Sigma 150-600 mm lens. (By the way, I am partial to all brands of cameras. Nikon is just where I have reunited my photography interests at the present time.)

My photos are copyrighted and would appreciate a consent to use in other settings. Indeed, all of the photos on my photostream I have taken.
