I've been into photography since around 1977 and worked as a professional wedding photographer between 1986 and 1989. Unfortunately, it turned out I was a better photographer than a business person (just didn't charge/value my work enough). I also became a little disillusioned with photography with the advent of digital cameras. I was used to film, and getting the shot in one go, so digital just seemed like a spray gun mentality to me i.e. if you take enough pictures, you're sure to get enough to make the bride happy. I ended up leaving photography altogether, I didn't pick up a camera for almost 20years. I was given a digital Panasonic camera for my 50th birthday in 2006 and by 2012 was using a Canon 5D MkII, then a MkIII and I was doing weddings again with big heavy lenses. By 2018 my wrists just couldn't hold all that weight for a full day on a wedding shoot so my photography fell away again. Thank the lord for mirrorless. I sold all my digital gear and brought a Canon R10 in late 2024 for an overseas trip but soon upgraded to the R8 (I am a Canon guy) which I love. I'm now retired and have a handful of the cheaper RF lenses; 35mm f1.8; 50mm f1.8; 70-200mm f4 and 24-105mm f4 (a great travel lens) and photography is now about what I want to shoot. Now that I've retired, I'm back into it and I've taken up the 100 Stranger Challenge to get me going. I'll load some of my favourite family pics from past years here over the coming months
