Welcome to my Photostream

It is a happy occasion for me to be updating my profile. And welcoming visitors here to see and view my photography is an extra special thrill, and I'm very grateful.

As my name suggests, I am a hermit. And a pilgrim. I live a secluded and contemplative life in a small hermit community. Being a pilgrim is a major part of my soul and has meant usually quite frequent movement in the world. Living in different countries, travelling to many others, housesitting in I forget how many places. Only recently has my community decided to stay longer term in the one place. Nothing is permanent in our material world, so all I can tell you is we have contracted to rent this Hermitage for a year! Pilgrimage is both external out there in the world, and internal, within myself. Life's a trip they say, whether you're walking round the world or you are sitting in a quiet hermitage.

You see, I am a hermit because I want more choice and control over what and who I engage with and am subsequently impacted by. My main aspiration is to spend as much time in prayer for all beings as I can wthout the distractions of the material world

As a result I decided a while ago to make a new Flickr account as my sole soical media presence (the old one had served its purpose for many years). As for the pilgrim bit. Well as I said, life is a trip; an ongoing journey of adventure and challenge and opportunity to serve.

I've made photos and other kinds of art my entire life more or less. For a few years I was a street photographer; in a sense, I still am, though now I am not focused on photographing people directly.

Nowadays I still wander the streets and photograph pretty much everything and anything that speaks to my mind, heart and eyes.

I suppose you could call me a contemplative photographer or artist. In truth making photos is a spiritual practice for me.

Also, I write. I have a blog called Notes from the Hermit's Cave. The link will be on this profile page. It isn't as regular as I'd like, but like anything in my life, I simply try to go with the flow of inspiration and intuition.

Much of my life is taken up with photographing and other practices meant to further my spiritual development. All of these things are intended as prayer, always prayer. It's very much about my quest to recognise and engage with the divine in all things.

Photography has become more and more over the years a way for me to explore at least some aspects of humanity's place in and our impact on the world. And that's not to mention my own place, my own role, my own love.

I pray that you will find something of importance to yourself on my stream. I go with the flow of inspiriation and what I see and feel in my my eternal wanderings in the environment I am blessed to live in.
