My photographic practice revolves around an experimental analogue technique known as “souped film.” After capturing my subjects—nature and the human form—I immerse the film in botanical "soups" that contain elements from the natural world. This process alters the film’s appearance in unpredictable and sometimes striking ways, from unexpected color shifts to textural burns, embracing the uncontrollable beauty of transformation and decay.
The core of my work lies in exploring the intertwined relationship between humanity and nature. By merging these elements, I seek to depict a world where humans and the natural environment coexist harmoniously, offering a visual ode to the earth's beauty and its potential to nurture and sustain life. Each piece becomes a testament to the fragile, yet powerful connections between the organic and the human, illustrating a narrative that is both ecological and mystical.
In this sense, my work not only celebrates the aesthetics of the natural world but also hints at its magical and mysterious qualities. Through the souped film technique, I strive to create images that are at once familiar and otherworldly, blurring the line between reality and the surreal. It is my hope that these works invite viewers to see nature not just as a backdrop to human life but as a vibrant, living entity that we are intimately connected to—a force of transformation, resilience, and wonder.
