Retired and loving it !

Been into things photographic since using my dads Box Brownie. In the past enjoyed darkroom work, reversal processing (started with E4, remember it?) and always had an eclectic approach to taking photos.

Started the transition from film soon after digital appeared on the scene. Went through many many compact and bridge cameras until dslrs became established then worked up from "entry level", being amazed at the plethora of new innovations with each upgrade.

Settled on Nikon then inevitably, for me, full frame. At one point I was carrying around a couple of D810s, Nikkor 28-300, Tamron 15-30 and had a Sigma 150-600, usually residing in the boot of the car. Lets say the weight for an OAP proved a bit too much even though post editing was a joy from the 36mp sensor.

Traded the lot in for Sony mirrorless gear. Superb performance but if I'm honest it was like having a computer that took photos rather than me being totally in control. OK, I used manual and aperture priorities but with the vast array of options I felt duty bound to use them. Well I had paid for them !

Soooooooo traded some of the gear in and bought nice chunky D810s again but have kept the Sony RX10 IV bridge camera as my every day outfit. Considering the size, weight etc this camera is in a class of it's own in my admittedly limited experience.

Oh and enrolled in a body building course as well.

So if you see a geriatric OAP lugging a couple of Nikon D810s or Sony mirrorless bridge around the Yorkshire Wildlife Park or anywhere near Doncaster it's probably me.

I have no problem at all with other members commenting on my photos be it either in a positive or negative direction, provided it isn't abusive. There are polite ways to express critical comments. However what I do have an issue with is those on here who do not contribute by posting their own material.

For this reason I will most likely block anyone who attempts to follow me if they have an empty Photostream.
