"Law is but the means, justice is the end."

The Georgetown Law Library maintains a collection of rare law books and manuscripts, the archives of Georgetown Law, and the National Equal Justice Library.

The Special Collections Department holds private papers from across the legal field, and is especially strong in the history of social justice. It includes papers from the founder of the National Legal Aid & Defender Association.

On an international level are two collections from members of the legal defense team for the Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal. The rare book collection retains the library and judicial manuscripts of Lord Eldon, a Chancellor of England who served from 1801-1827.
