My dad was an avid rail photographer who started me out taking train photos at a very young age. I started with the infamous Kodak 126 "Instamatic" cameras and a black 120 box camera, which I don't remember the name of. From there I graduated to a 35mm Minolta range finder and then I got dads old Pentax Spotmatic and assorted lenses when he switched to medium format When the Pentax Spotmatic died, I moved to a Pentax ME body, and then to a Ricoh body which had the Pentax lens mount, and I hated that body. I then went to Nikon purchasing a FM2, then a N90s, and finally the F5. In 2006 I went Digital with Nikon D200 and then in 2022 a Z6II.
I am colorblind! If you see some totally whacked out colors, please say something and let me know what is wrong color wise. I find the colorblindness really a challenge when scanning slides and negatives, especially the older stuff which have perhaps started to color drift from age.
I have worked in the railroad industry most of my adult life, working almost 3 decades for Siemens commissioning Light Rail Vehicles, Locomotives, and Coaches. I retired from Siemens in 2016 and went into the world of consulting, which has been a blast. A totally different experience working for an equipment buyer than it is working for the equipment builder. I am currently living the Pacific Northwest, so unless I want to get really wet, the shooting season is realtively short up here!
Thanks for looking,
John
