About Us

Bury Hospice opened its doors in June 1991 and the charity has helped thousands of people through some of the most difficult times in their lives with specialist, compassionate and palliative end-of-life care.

It costs us £4 million to run our services with a 13% contribution from the NHS. The remainder is raised via our income generation streams which includes fundraising, retail and lottery.

Our Vision

At Bury Hospice our focus and vision is to ensure all patients and families in Bury receive compassionate and outstanding care during their palliative and end-of-life journey.

Inpatient Unit

Our Inpatient Unit provides a calm and caring environment for our patients and visitors. Our team of staff are truly committed to ensuring everyone is treated with dignity, respect and compassion.

Our Unit has been purpose built and offers single rooms. Each room has an en-suite shower room and a terrace with its own view of the gardens (pictured below). Patients are encouraged to bring items in to personalise their room and pets are welcome to visit.

Outreach Team

The Outreach service supports patients and families in their own home through the provision of education, personal, practical and emotional support for short periods of time. You can be referred to into our service by any health or social care professional.

Bereavement and Family Support

Our bereavement and family support services are offered to help people to cope with the loss of their loved ones.

Throughout the month, Bury Hospice runs Bereavement Cafés and a Walk & Talk group. The groups have been described as an opportunity to get out and meet new people, giving participants the chance to share how they feel, helping to prevent the isolation often felt after a bereavement and a chance to gain new friends.

Another service we offer is the Sunflower Group which was set up to provide bereavement

support for children aged five to 11, as well as their parents or carers.
