For many years I worked in publishing as a writer and editor. I wrote and photographed for printed magazines, developed website content, produced live events, newsletters and directories. We used slide film for the magazines, often Kodachrome and Ektachrome. Cameras used included a Pentax ME Super, Minolta X-700, and Mamiya medium-format. I liked the X-700 and bought one for myself. I also bought a Nikon FG, and I was mostly interested in black and white photography, especially on road trips. I liked Plus-X 125 B&W film, and also used Tri-X 400 and T-Max. For the magazine we were using film cameras as late as 1999, and I remember buying film for my own use a few years after that. In the digital age, I bought a Nikon D40 at Central Camera in Chicago, downsized to a Nikon Coolpix P7000, and then downsized again to an iPhone for many images.
