When I was a kid, any time we went somewhere scenic, my dad always had a camera in his hand. From a young age, I learned to see the world through a lens, to look for shapes, light, or even feeling in a photo. I still have his slides (maybe a few of mine too) and I love looking through them, bringing back a time that has been immortalized in 35 millimeters.

Fast forward 40 or more years.

I've been in Montana for 27 years now, longer than I was in Colorado where I grew up. I'm a single father of a great Son who keeps me busy most of the time. We're in rural (technically frontier if you want a legal term) North Central Montana, just a few miles from Canada. There isn't a lot here except wide open spaces and Mother Nature.

I try to capture a feeling or tell a story with each photo I take. I want to show you, the viewer what it means to live here, what our parents had to deal with to settle in such a harsh land. Enjoy my photos, look at my stories, and think about those that walked through them long before you or me. That's what I hope you see.
