I've been a photographer for over 50 years now, and a Nikon user since my first Nikkormat in 1973. I've used Nikons ever since. I switched from film to digital in 2004 and never looked back. I stumbled on Nikon's first mirrorless interchangeable lens system, the Nikon 1, late in 2018 - just before Nikon stopped making it. I like the Nikon 1 gear so much that I've barely touched my DX gear since.
My primary subject matter has been wild birds in natural settings, but I've cut back on that in recent years due to aging knees and hips. I still photograph birds plus anything else that catches my eye, but now my photography is dominated by our cats.
I have a simple philosophy about photography: you can see a lot just by looking. That's based on a comment from our twentieth century sage Yogi Berra. One recipe to becoming a good photographer is to be observant, patient, and interested in the world around you. That's more important than the brand or format of camera.
Although I shoot mostly for myself I have a compulsion to share my work. I hope that you find it interesting and that you comment on it to let me know how I'm doing.
