The Alphaseed Project

Sketches from team 3 in 2019

It is a time of great progress in human civilization, where the limits of science are being pushed further than ever before. The Earth's population has grown to unprecedented levels, and even if many believe that is simply not enough space to accommodate all of the people the data proves this totally wrong, Vast areas of empty space can be found around the world and not just in land based nations but also the vastness of our oceans.

But there were those who refuse to accept this notion, and instead of looking at the vast and unexplored oceans as the answer to humanity's problems many continue to claim there is overpopulation. We debunk such notion and instead we see a terrible and unsustainable destruction of our limited resources as well as damaging the environment which often we deem uninhabitable for many generations to come.

To advert such notions we seek to start creating habitable environments in very large floating, submersible and semi submersible structures at sea.

The Alphaseed project is one such initiative, led by inviting a team of brilliant scientists and engineers determined to build a floating city that could not only survive catastrophes we often see at land-based nations such as earthquakes and tsunamis but actually thrive as a floating city state on the open waters.

City-Spheres are envisioned to have a geodesic dome in the upper part, featuring a convex o-concave lower hull that would host a population of around ten thousand people most like a cruise-liner

These giant floating spherical cities could be 3D printed using the latest technology at hand considering material such as liquid crystal polymers, graphene, cement, steel, ceramics and other composites which come with the new 3D printing technology where artificial intelligence AI plays a key role in the 3D printing techniques, AI robotic assembly as well as its continuous maintenance to avoid abrasion and other circumstances which would require a constant surveillance, supervision and maintenance through automated robotic systems.

The idea was simple but elegant: create a structure capable of withstanding the most severe storms and impacts at sea, with a wide range of sensors systems and protocols entirely automated by AI, city-spheres could house an entire city's worth of people either in a couple or many other spheres interconnected by unmanned underwater transportation., and even go entirely underwater if needed.

The 3D printing is to be set to work using large computerized scaffolding to guide 3D print heads and other robotic devices to fabricate the hulls of these structures and other more detailed aspects.

The team is to research advanced materials, such as Vectran and graphene, to create a structure that is not only incredibly strong but also as comfortable as a cruise liner would be. The Alphaseed floating spheres would also double the size of large cruise liners by having not only the same length but the diameter as well, topped by a lavish floating forest or Eco-system by being able to keep such dome and inner ecosystem constantly on the surface allowing it to resemble a real island at the top by partially retracting sections of its geodesic dome. by retracting the dome the floating island would always remain horizontal due to the weight of the lower part of the sphere.

Advanced AI steering envisioning that no matter how much movement is going on in upper surrounding water by submersing the structure below the wave base even the largest of storms would not cause massive amounts of sway since AI would cause the orientation of the spheres to change accordingly by predetermining and sway before hand and take counter measures to avoid any discomfort to its citizens on board..
