As a contemporary English surrealist artist, Hill's work explores the subconscious mind and the hidden emotions that drive human behavior. Through a blending of dreamlike imagery and symbolism, Hill's aim is to challenge the viewer's perceptions of reality and provoke a deeper understanding of the self. Hill's art is a reflection of his own inner world, and strives to connect with the viewer on a direct and personal level, inviting them to explore their own subconscious. Hill firmly believes that Surrealist art has the power to transform, and is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in image making.

Hill has recently begun exploring the potentialities of Generative AI image making. 'Night', a long term major project is dedicated to illustrating the work of his distant relative the Dundee based poet George Gilfillan (1813-1878).
