A Khampagar Monastery digitalisation project reviving vintage media. The collection focuses on the Eighth Khamtrul Rinpoche Dongyü Nyima (1931-1980) [Tib. ཁམས་སྤྲུལ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་དོན་བརྒྱུད་ཉི་མ་] and his establishment of Khamapagar Monastery and the Tibetan-in-exile community of Tashi Jong, northern India. In the early 1970s, Khamtrul Rinpoche requested two of his American disciples, Lynn and Jon Weinberger, to document some of the extensive Drukpa Kagyü lineage arts and culture as well as community life. Their collection instigated this project. Other disciples and community members have added media to the collection as well as providing valuable context and identification of individuals where possible.
Thanks to a Khyentse Foundation grant this vintage media was digitalised, providing a valuable historical record given originals were at risk of deterioration or becoming lost to time.
