I have always been interested in and fascinated by birds. They are my primary focus when I go out with my cameras. It's a little surprising to see how many of my Flickr visitors' favourites are flowers and shrubs which are incidental to me. Of course, birds are much more difficult to photograph. A few species patiently wait on a perch, often at some distance - hawks, owls, cormorants and others. But warblers, while near, hardly ever stay still and none of them knowingly pose. Bird photography is a lot like fishing - both need acquiescence in failure; patience and calmness while not much is happening, as well as the ability to be constantly alert while maintaining the capacity to anticipate and to act decisively at the precise moment. Failure and disappointment are to be taken with equanimity - there will always another time, one hopes.
