Marc is a certified wildlife biologist (retired) by training. He started photography while in high school and applied it professionally through college earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Wildlife and Coastal Management from University Massachusetts, Amherst. He concluded graduate studies in biology with a Masters of Science degree in Wildlife Management from Frostburg State University and a graduate research assistantship from University of Maryland. He began publishing articles on fishing and ecology in the 1980s. Photography and writing has always been a passion for Marc and it gave him a special means to study nature with many hours in the field hunting, fishing and with a professional career as a wildlife biologist and ecologist. He began working as a research assistant with South Carolina Sea Grant and the SC Wildlife & Marine Resources in 1982. He served as a biological scientist with the State of Florida, and as the senior wildlife biologist for the US Department of Interior, Fish & Wildlife Service at the Kennedy Space Center, and national wildlife refuge manager at Santee NWR. Marc photographs everything that's interesting and has a special interest environmental conservation, science education, wildlife, hunting and fishing photography and macro-photography.

He also has published freelance editorial articles and photography for various publications including: Cape Cod Life Magazine, South Carolina Wildlife, Florida Wildlife, Coastal Living, Space Coast Living, Fur Fish & Game, US Fish & Wildlife Service, Refuge Update and Fish & Wildlife News. His photography also has appeared in Ducks Unlimited, National Wildlife, Sport Fishing, Saltwater Fishing, Florida Sportsman, Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, books, other magazines and brochures. Marc is credited with publishing the first ever image of the small endemic, endangered plant in Florida that had not been seen in over 100 years.
