I have been interested in photography from my early teenage years. I started with a point and shoot camera and then moved to a Pentax ME Super (a fantastic little film camera). Then digital came along and I settled on Nikon, first a DSLR and now the mirrorless Z8, although I still have my D7500.

In my early years I was mainly doing travel photography and family shots. In my career as an academic optometrist and researcher, I had the opportunity to travel to some special places, including Tanzania, Kenya, Australia, Hawaii, Jamaica and of course I always took a camera – film camera for many of these trips. This started a love of wildlife photography. Marrying Doug, a keen animal lover, has strengthened this interest and now we travel together to places where we can see wildlife.

This fits well with my interest in birds. So many of my photos are of birds. But I also photograph other animals, landscapes, flowers, street scenes and close-ups and play with creative images. I am always trying to improve and belonging to two camera clubs is very instrumental in that goal.

Most of my photography is in South-West Ontario and I seek for local places to shoot.
