DeepEndoftheSpool
Drag to set position!
Deep End of the Spool is an ongoing descent into photography as obsession, experiment, and way of seeing. Analog and digital, old and new, half-frame to medium format, elegance and awkwardness, and everything in between all belong here together. I’m interested in cameras less as technical tools than as strange little machines that shape memory, attention, and feeling in different ways. I’m learning, exploring, and following the rabbit hole wherever it leads.
Alongside my wife, @tracimatlock, I’m one half of Tigre | cachorra, a two-person collective of film-obsessed photographers making still and moving images with any camera we can get into our hands. We met in the early 2000s and, after many side quests, are now a married duo creating kindness, chaos, and the pleasure of seeing. Together.
Born on different continents and hemispheres, we currently live and work in Houston, Texas, but always love an excuse to travel. Existential beauty, impossible awkwardness, and the unbearable decadence of being are some of our favorite things to photograph. Plus many, many sunsets.
You’re invited to reach out if you want to collaborate on either side of the camera, trade camera stories, or simply go on photo walks with us.
