The restoration of my 16 foot 1964 Mobile Scout started around 2018 and is now just about finished in 2022. The trailer has been in the family since my parents bought it in 1968 while I was in the Army. The last 2 photos are of me and my son in 1971 and my oldest daughter on a swing with the Scout behind her in 1981. This was before I bought the trailer from my parents in 1982. At this time I painted the outside and replaced the tile inside. We took it for our first trip to Big Bend National Park in Texas. It spent its life in a Boat Storage I own until 2006 when it was not being used for camping. It then traveled to 5 different Texas ranches until 2014 when it was towed back from a ranch out of New Home Texas. Restoration included removing the roof and lower wall aluminum to repair any rotted wood. New insulation, vapor barrier and exterior and interior wiring was replaced. Inside, all paneling on cabinets was removed and replaced with new birch. Most panels on the ceiling were replaced and all new wood stained to match the old wood that was not replaced. Not an easy job as the old wood was blond. A new water holding tank and floor were replaced also. It needs a new paint job outside and the propane tank replaced and filled and it will be back on the road again. The Scout will be a beauty again like it was when new.
